Zachary knew something wasn’t right at home. Dad would yell and throw things at Mom. Dad would also say that were moving out, but Mom couldn’t come with them. Zach hated the way Dad acted, and believed that if he kept his room clean, got straight A’s and made the soccer team, everything would be better at home. He didn’t understand that his mother was being verbally and emotionally abused by his father and the abuse was affecting Zach too.
On Wednesday, June 23, our virtual annual luncheon will explore the mother/child experience of domestic abuse with Patrisha McLean and her daughter Jackie McLean. They will share how their life at home impacted their individual lives as well as their mother/daughter relationship. More details on the event are available here.
