SHALVA is proud to be part of a large and supportive community of domestic violence agencies, while also addressing the unique needs of survivors in the Jewish community. Survivors have many of the same basic needs for safety and healing, but according to the recent JWI (Jewish Women’s International) report on Domestic Violence in the Jewish Community, “in the case of Jewish survivors, there are additional layers of communal, cultural, and faith-focused issues.” Their report makes key recommendations in the areas of COVID, economic security, housing, children, clergy, culturally specific Jewish programs, and Jewish community centering services.
