The SHALVA Community Education Team was very busy during Domestic Violence Awareness Month – we reached 500+ people! Here are some highlights:
- Observing Tashlich with a Relationship Reflection for the New Year at Montrose Beach.
- Cheering on the Run DV Out of Town team at the Chicago marathon.
- Training primary care physicians and physical therapy students about the warning signs of abuse that may be hiding in plain sight and how to help their patients.
- Displaying SHALVA lawn signs to increase awareness of our services.
- Presenting on domestic abuse and religion at the YWCA 40 Hour Training. This state of Illinois certification program is for those who work with domestic abuse survivors.
- Hosting Tips on Obtaining and Enforcing Orders Of Protection with Between Friends. The free CLE and ICDVP CEU program featured a panel of family lawyers, law enforcement and the presiding judge of the Domestic Violence court.
- Building community with the JUF Young Women’s Board as they learned about SHALVA services and financial abuse. Thank you for the gift cards for survivors of partner abuse!
Thank you to everyone who participated. YOU are now ambassadors for SHALVA and YOU made Domestic Violence Awareness Month a huge success!
