For those who are lucky enough to be physically healthy and in a healthy relationship, you’re probably being reminded of (and being tested on!) the importance of maintaining core relationship values and behaviors through life’s challenges.
Are we truly listening to our partners’ needs? Are we communicating our feelings well? Are we practicing gratitude towards our partner? Are we carving out time for fun together? Are we taking some time for ourselves? Understanding our needs and our partners’ needs are so important, especially during times of unique stress like now.
When couples are in the early stages of their committed relationship they may not be interested in learning about the tools and values that provide a strong foundation for a lifetime of love. When things are wonderful it’s easy, but it’s times like now that remind us why we should explore these topics before we feel they are needed in our relationship.
SHALVA’s commitment to supporting Jewish women experiencing and healing from domestic abuse runs alongside our commitment to promote healthy relationships throughout our Jewish community. We are excited to be creating a brand new program aimed at couples preparing for marriage or lifetime commitment that will provide them with tools to have a healthy relationship for life.
If you are married or were previously married, we want to hear from you! Help us make this the most meaningful program possible by taking our brief survey about how you prepared for marriage and what you’ve learned since.
Pass this along to friends and family!
The more responses we get, the more meaningful the program can be.
