We always get the question: “Why the bathroom stall?” For survivors of intimate partner abuse, being in a bathroom may be the only time of day away from their abuser. This may be the only private moment to read and memorize the phone number to our confidential helpline. Sometimes, the only way they can learn that their relationship is not healthy or safe is through a sign in the bathroom.
Over the years, many of our referrals have come from these signs, and they remain our most recognized effort to get the word out about our free services and other support.
