“Journey to Healing: A Mother/Daughter Story” – a presentation that will share insights into several forms of abuse and the impact on the survivor and the children. Patrisha McLean, the ex-wife of singer-songwriter Don McLean, and her daughter Jackie McLean, have gone public with their stories and found healing through the arts and counseling. They will share their journeys of abuse and healing individually and together.

Patrisha McLean is a photojournalist, human rights advocate and the founder/president of Finding Our Voices, which marshals survivor faces and voices to break the silence of domestic abuse.

Jackie McLean is a New York-based musician and writer. She is the founder and frontwoman of the musical project Roan Yellowthorn.

Since 1986 SHALVA has worked tirelessly for a strong and peaceful community where every woman is safe in her home or relationship. Each year we serve approximately 250 clients and educate thousands throughout Chicagoland.
The luncheon is our sole annual community-wide fundraiser. Because victim services and education programs are free of charge, SHALVA seeks ongoing, meaningful financial support from individual community members, businesses and foundations.
