What is SHALVA?
SHALVA’s mission is to offer deep Jewish cultural competency and expertise in domestic abuse to support our diverse community. SHALVA empowers those experiencing and healing from domestic abuse by offering confidential counseling or referral and needed supportive services. SHALVA also works for lasting social change through community education aimed at increasing awareness, understanding, prevention, and healthy relationships.
In 2025, we expect to serve 225-260 community members in need of SHALVA’s help and educate approximately 4,000 professionals and community members in Metropolitan Chicago and beyond.
How does my sponsorship help?
Because survivor services and education programs are free of charge, SHALVA seeks ongoing, meaningful financial support from individual community members, businesses, and foundations. Your sponsorship helps survivors find freedom and breaks the cycle of intimate partner abuse for future generations.

What is the luncheon Topic?
The one-hour virtual program includes highlights of SHALVA’s programs and work in the past year and features a keynote speaker on a mission-centered topic. Our 2025 event will feature Chicago native Sara Sherbill, a survivor of family violence and the author of There was Night and There was Morning. Sara will be in conversation with world-renowned expert Jeffrey Edleson, Ph.D., about how exposure to abuse affects one’s development, from childhood through adulthood.

Sponsors of $5,000 or more that commit by April 1, 2025 may have name/logo on invitation and materials.

All sponsorships include the complete luncheon experience of a delivered entrée and dessert. Dietary laws observed. Lunches delivered only to Chicago area attendees.
SHALVA will contact you in June for meal selection and delivery location.
Sponsorship in excess of the expected fair market value of $45 per lunch is tax-deductible.
