Recently, SHALVA partnered with ReCAST (Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma) to train faith leaders in Chicago to support survivors of domestic abuse and break the cycle of violence through faith traditions. On October 29, clergy, staff and members of many faiths from dozens of local religious institutions met via Zoom (of course!) to discuss how to increase awareness beyond Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the opportunities and barriers to action, and the tools and resources needed in the faith community. The meeting energized the group and they committed to raising awareness in their communities and creating safe spaces for survivors.
